PARIS — Top-ranked Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the Paris Olympics tennis competition because of tonsillitis. The 22-year-old from Italy posted on social media Wednesday that he was advised by a doctor that he should sit out the Summer Games. Sinner won the Australian Open in January for his first Grand Slam title and moved up to No. 1 in the ATP rankings in June after reaching the French Open semifinals. Sinner said it was a great disappointment that he could not represent his country at the Olympics. His withdrawal means Serbia's Novak Djokovic will be seeded No. 1 in Paris for men's singles, and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz will be No. 2.
