THE BACKYARD — Growing up in a small town, we constantly had wild animals coming into the garage to steal our cat's food. Raccoons were the main offenders, but we got skunks, too.
The raccoons were hissy and feisty, never missing a chance to brawl with our cats. Sometimes my dad would have to get a broom and try to swat them out.
But the skunks were the worst. They'd come into the garage, eat their fill and then spray the place for good measure. We stored our sleeping bags, tents and other camping gear in the garage, so this meant that any time we went camping, we'd have the delightful scent of past skunk sprays lingering with us.
What I've never seen, however, is a badger stealing cat food. Until now, that is. Check out this video.
It seems this badger is a regular visitor. While the cat doesn't appear thrilled to see him, it also doesn't look frightened. The caption implies the badger is a repeat visitor, looking healthier than in previous encounters.
And the homeowner seems to be a legitimate badger fanatic. There are at least two different wooden badger carvings visible on the deck, which must make the badger feel right at home during its food runs.
