I don't know how often Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, has a bad day — but today is definitely one of them.

The 39-year-old Portugal star and his team faced off against Slovenia in their round of 16 game at the EUFA European Championship on Monday, and they couldn't catch a break. Ronaldo missed an open shot in the 89th minute of play, and choked on three free kicks.

Pretty unusual, considering Ronaldo has scored more than 890 goals across his career — the highest goal count of any man in history.

Neither team had a point on the board the first 90 minutes of play and went into extra time.

Check out this crazy save from Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who blocked Ronaldo's free kick 104 minutes into the match. Look closely — are those tears from Ronaldo, or just a little sweat?

The match ended in penalty shootouts — lucky for Ronaldo, Portugal scraped by and will be advancing to the quarterfinals, where it will face France.

Even if the team avoided defeat, some are taking to social media to call on "washed-up" Ronaldo to retire. The Portugal captain hasn't really carried his weight during the championship, scoring zero goals and earning one yellow card across four games.

If things don't change, Ronaldo could have more bad days in his future.
