SOUTH AFRICA — When faced with a dangerous situation, our fight-or-flight response dictates whether we stay to fight, or flee to safety. For example, if you were walking down the street and a crazed clown suddenly stepped out of an alleyway and tried to grab you, would you punch the clown or run home in terror?

My hunch is that, in this scenario, I'd choose to fight. But I've never actually faced a crazed clown, so there's a good chance I'd let out a piercing scream and run home as fast as my legs could carry me.

Of course, researchers understand our reactions aren't limited to just fighting and fleeing. Other reactionary words have been added to the discussion, such as freeze. When encountering a clown or other threat, we might simply freeze up, making us unable to do anything. I've definitely been in situations like that before. Based on today's video, we can add a very specific response to the list: ninja kick.

When those sparks started flying, the woman could've easily frozen in fear, or run away. Instead, she lashed out with the perfect kick.

"I had to move some stainless-steel cases," the video caption explains. "I placed the one box in a battery, so the steel touched the positive and negative of the battery together and, wham bam, shocks everywhere. I had such a big fright I had some ninja moves there."

Wow. I'd say her ninja kick was the perfect reaction to this situation and maybe even prevented a fire from spreading. Maybe.
