Canada tops Finland, Sweden beats Latvia, Switzerland routs Denmark at men's hockey worlds

PRAGUE — Defending champion Canada has beaten Finland 5-3 for its fifth straight victory at the ice hockey world championship. Captain John Tavares set up the winning goal with his second assist in the final period. Tavares found Brandon Hagel at the left post to score into an open goal. Canada is second in Group A with Switzerland, a point behind leading Czechs who beat winless Britain 4-1. All three have clinched a playoff spot. Sweden beat Latvia 7-2 and preserved its perfect record to lead Group B. Switzerland routed Denmark 8-0. Germany beat winless Poland 4-2 and Slovakia defeated France 4-2, both clinching a fourth win in Group B.
