SUZHOU, China — Akani Simbine has surged late to overhaul Christian Coleman and win the 100-meters in 10.01 seconds at the Diamond League meet in China. The 100 at Suzhou was supposed to be a showdown between two American former world champions going head-to-head on back-to-back weekends in China — Coleman got the better of Fred Kerley in the series-opener last week in Xiamen. But Simbine upstaged them with a strong finish. The South African says "This has built a lot of confidence leading into the Olympic year. This helps build momentum."
