MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota has hired former Rutgers linebackers coach Corey Hetherman as defensive coordinator and former Syracuse special teams coordinator Bob Ligashesky for the same job. This fills two high-profile vacancies on coach P.J. Fleck's staff. Hetherman won the American Football Coaches Association's FCS Assistant Coach of the Year award as defensive coordinator at James Madison in 2021. He replaces Joe Rossi, who left for the same job at Michigan State. Ligashesky has coached at seven FBS programs and for seven NFL teams. He replaces Rob Wenger, who'd been with the Gophers since Fleck arrived in 2017.
