BUDAPEST, Hungary — History's fastest 100-meter hurdler was back at world championships to defend her title. She always expected that. Not everyone else did. Tobi Amusan made it into the lineup a mere five days after an appeals panel reinstated her from a provisional suspension she received for missing three doping tests in the span of a year. The so-called whereabouts violation threatened the Nigerian hurdler's chances at a title defense. Last year, she ran a record 12.12 seconds en route to the gold medal. Though she's clear to compete this week in Budapest, her case could still be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Anti-doping regulators are waiting to review the latest decision before deciding next moves.
