PARIS — Heavy rains have set back plans to test Paris' readiness for swimmers to race in the River Seine at next year's Summer Olympics. The women's race was postponed at least 24 hours until Sunday. A training session Friday for swimmers set to compete this weekend in the river that cuts through Paris was also canceled because water quality dropped below acceptable standards. That can happen when heavy rains cause overflows of untreated waste into the Seine. Paris is spending massively on water-management projects that officials say will make pollution caused by storms far less frequent.
