With NASCAR celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2023, The Associated Press asked retired Hall of Fame driver and NBC Sports analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr. to write an essay on the series and its role in his life. Earhardt says NASCAR defined his life. As the son of the late seven-time champion Dale Earnhardt, he grew up at the racetrack.
