RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira of Argentina is one round away from getting into the Masters and U.S. Open. The senior from Arkansas tied a Latin America Amateur Championship record with a 63 and his nine birdies. He also smashed the 54-hole record with 198. That gives him a four-shot lead going into the final round at Grand Reserve. Fernandez de Oliveira was a runner-up last year when it was held in the Dominican Republic. The winner of the Latin America Amateur earns a spot at Augusta National in April and at Los Angeles Country Club for the US Open.
