As the days become shorter and the weather colder, the urge to bundle up and stay indoors is strong. But these telltale signs of winter also mean Christmas is around the corner.
Joe Bennett, professor of musicology at Berklee College of Music told the Washington Post that most people love Christmas music because "it is about homecoming, nostalgia, looking back to a more innocent time in one's life or cultural history."
If you're yearning for homecoming and nostalgia this holiday season, grab your coat and scarf and head to one of Jenny Oaks Baker & Family Four's Christmas shows.
Jenny Oaks Baker is a Grammy-nominated, Billboard No.1 recording artist and performer. The Utah native received her masters degree from Juilliard School in New York City, but resides in the Beehive State with her family.
Her tour this holiday season will visit many different states, including Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Virginia, Georgia and Alabama. Utahns have the chance to see the show in several different parts of the state, including St. George, Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Cedar City.
"I am really excited to bring this program which is fun and entertaining and also incredibly soul-filling and spiritually fulfilling to families around the country! I am also really looking forward to performing with my talented children and also the incomparable former Celtic Woman star Alex Sharpe," Oaks Baker said.
This Christmas show isn't your ordinary classical music performance. With Oaks Baker on the violin and her four children on various musical instruments, you'll also hear from Irish soprano Alex Sharpe, formerly of the musical group Celtic Woman. The music is arranged by Kurt Bestor and author Jason F. Wright will narrate the evening's performances.
Dance troupes and a choir local to each city will also join the talent-packed lineup.
A full list of tour dates can be found on Oaks Baker's website.
