Could you use help for your emotional health? Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed and need someone to talk to? Intermountain Healthcare now has a resource for people needing emotional support during a time of crisis or distress.

Intermountain is offering the community a free hotline for Utahns to access any day of the week. This vital resource provides access to a trained specialist who will help people navigate through each situation or distress.

Intermountain's Behavioral Health Navigation Hotline originally started as a support line during the COVID-19 pandemic but has evolved to be a permanent service for anyone in the state of Utah who is dealing with mental health concerns for themself, a family member or a friend, and wonders if the line can provide help to them.

"Intermountain Healthcare has continued to build on the local hotline resource in response to growing behavioral health needs in communities throughout the state. This includes Intermountain's Connect Care and the Behavioral Health Navigation Hotline which is the telehealth option for anyone in the state to use," said Doug Thomas, community health director for Intermountain Healthcare.

Here are four ways the Intermountain Behavioral Health Navigation Hotline provides mental and behavioral health support to Utahns:

  1. It gives Utahns a free resource to talk to someone about a range of mental health concerns from low-risk stressors to more complex issues such as crises and serious mental health needs. Interpretation services are offered in 19 different languages.
  2. Behavioral health professionals who answer the line can guide (or link) people to a variety of short and long-term resources including digital and telehealth options.
  3. The service is free. Regardless of if you have health insurance or not there are options for you. For some callers, we may recommend referrals to treatment options that utilize their insurance and follow regular billing practices. Some of those resources may offer financial assistance or be covered by insurance, which will be explained when the person reaches out. But calling the hotline is completely free.
  4. This service brings self-care, at-home support and crisis resources together in a single, digitally-enabled way.

Everyone should know that there is help if they or a loved one is struggling.

The free Intermountain Behavioral Health Navigation Hotline is available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 833-442-2211.
