The early pioneer settlers founded the state of Utah on July 24, 1847, according to the Library of Congress. More than 150 years later, the state recognizes July 24 as a state holiday—and that looks different for everyone.
Some people celebrate with parades, fireworks, and the Days of '47 Rodeo. Others like to celebrate with lots of smoking and grilling, spending time with family, taking a hike, or enjoying a relaxing day indoors.
