THE SLOPES — Fresh snow is a skier's dream.
So it's with much enthusiasm that Abbey Way, a social media coordinator for a ski resort, recently shared a report on the upcoming weather and skiing conditions.
But just because snow is exciting for skiers, it doesn't always mean that snow is a skier's friend. During Way's report, a skier in the background is having a personal battle with the snow and she struggles to go down some stairs.
She slips, slides, twists and turns. She drops her poles, She clings to the rail. She's basically struggling for her life while a bubbly Way obliviously keeps on keeping on. And before the report ends, the skier wins the battle (sort of) and descends the "slope" safely.

Of course the internet loved it, sharing hearty laughs and the video millions of times. But what the internet may not love as much is that the whole thing was staged.
Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania has a joke-loving marketing and communications team. It turns out they plan "pranks" in the background of many of their videos, it just so happens that this particular video went viral.
Even if you're a little disappointed or upset that the slipping and sliding skier was a set up, you have to admit that you probably felt the drama, had a laugh, and immediately thought of someone you wanted to share the video with. You already had the reaction they intended, and you can't take it back. Maybe it's best to lean into it and admit that the planned prank was a touch of genius.
