KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — Authorities from Kootenai County, Idaho announced Saturday evening two missing women from Oregon were found in the Panhandle National Forest in Idaho.

One was found deceased, while the second was found safe in a disabled vehicle.

Authorities say Dorothy "Kae" Turner, 84, and her daughter, Heidi Turner, 58, who is mentally disabled, were reported missing out of Pendleton, Oregon, on Wednesday when they never made it to their destination in Utah.

From the investigation, authorities say the two got lost and ended up in the National Forest where their car broke down. The mother made an effort to walk out of the forest to get assistance; however, she passed away from being exposed to the elements.

The daughter stayed in the vehicle and was able to survive the elements.

On Friday morning, authorities say they received a call from a hunter having discovered a body. An additional search of the area led authorities to the vehicle and the daughter.

The incident is still under investigation. However, authorities say it does not appear to be suspicious.
