NASSAU, Bahamas, Sep 11, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son died while visiting his mother and 3-day-old sister in a Nassau, Bahamas, hospital.

Daniel Smith was already dead by the time Doctors Hospital staff reached his mother's room Sunday morning, Royal Bahamas Police Force Assistant Commissioner Reginald Ferguson told People magazine Monday.

Although local media reported Smith died of a heart attack, Ferguson said there would be no official announcement pending the results of an autopsy performed Monday.

The young man, who frequently appeared on his mother's E! Entertainment reality series, "The Anna Nicole Show," had traveled to the Bahamas to be with her when she gave birth to his 6-pound, 9-ounce sister Thursday, said a statement posted on her Web site, annanicole.com.

"Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son," the statement said. "He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace."

Smith has not publicly named the father of her second child.
