VICENZA, Italy, Sep 4, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The curator of a Michelangelo show at the Palladian Museum in Vicenza, Italy says Michelangelo may have designed the city's famed Palazzo Tassi-Galli.

Howard Burns of Scuola Normale di Pisa, a prestigious area school, said he made the determination based on a new Michelangelo sketch that was found on the back of an architectural drawing, ANSA reported Monday.

The red-pencil sketch of a Florence church facade shares many features that are exclusive to the master's works, Burns said.

Burns said he also found correspondence between Michelangelo and former Florence Gov. Baccio Valori, who commissioned the Palazzo Tassi-Galli, ANSA said.

Burns speculated Michelangelo may have created the design as a favor to Valori, who hid him from a Vatican warrant in the early 1500's.

The newly discovered drawing will be part of a Michelangelo exhibit opening Sept. 17 at the Palladian Museum in Vicenza.
