UNDATED (AP) — The Atlantic Coast Conference and Notre Dame are considering whether the Fighting Irish will give up their treasured football independence for the 2020 season play as a member of the league. Two people involved in the ACC’s discussions say the league is looking at an 11-game schedule that would include 10 conference games. It would start Sept. 12. Notre Dame would play a full 10-game ACC schedule. Whether those games would count in the standings and the Irish would be eligible to participate in the ACC championship game for a slot in the Orange Bowl is still to be determined.

UNDATED (AP) — The NCAA Board of Governors has put off any decision about whether to hold championship events in fall sports. The decision comes after requests to wait from both the College Commissioners Association and the Division I football oversight committee. NCAA President Mark Emmert says the right move for now is to monitor health conditions around the country and focus on recent COVID-19 guidelines issued to its member schools.

UNDATED (AP) — Lawyers for New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson asked a federal judge on Friday to disregard an affidavit which alleged a $400,000 payment had been made to Williamson’s family before the former Duke star had begun his lone college season. The new filing by attorney Jeffrey Klein reiterates his earlier public assertion that the claims by Williamson’s spurned marketing agent the were false and that evidence meant to support those claims were fraudulent. Ex-Williamson marketing agent Gina Ford sued Williamson for $100 million after Williamson sued first to void their contract and hired another agent.
