OGDEN — A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash in May that left a young boy seriously injured, Ogden police confirmed Thursday.

Chaz Wolford was booked into Weber County Jail on Sunday on investigation of a hit-and-run involving serious injuries, obstruction of justice, failure to maintain a lane, driving on denied driver’s license and operating a vehicle without insurance.

The incident occurred May 14 in the 1600 block of Harrison Boulevard, Ogden police said.

Two 13-year-olds and a 16-year-old were riding scooters southbound on the shoulder of Harrison Boulevard, police said, when a red truck hit the guard rail about 150 yards behind the group and continued southbound.

The truck then hit two of the teens and fled the scene, police said. One of the juveniles suffered minor injuries and was released on scene after being treated by paramedics.

However, one boy suffered serious injuries and was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital.

The boy’s mother told KSL last month her son suffered six broken ribs on the left side, a broken hip, broken teeth and a broken left foot. He also required surgeries to treat some of his injuries.

The family set up a GoFundMe account* to help with medical bills.
