SALT LAKE CITY — A Willard resident serving as a senior missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died due to complications from COVID-19.
Allen Dee Pace, 68, was diagnosed with the virus in April after becoming sick in mid-March, according to church spokesman Daniel Woodruff. Shortly after becoming ill, Allen Pace went into the care of his wife and daughter in a nearby state; he died Saturday.
He and his wife, Nedra Pace, had been serving in the Michigan Detroit Mission since December. The couple had not been formally released from missionary service when Allen Pace died, according to Woodruff.
"We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Elder Pace as they mourn his passing," Woodruff said in a statement. "We continue to pray for all who are impacted by this pandemic."
