WASHINGTON (AP) — Joe Biden's march to the Democratic presidential nomination quickened its pace Tuesday with dominating victories in Michigan, Missouri and Mississippi. The win in Michigan was most significant because it was a state that Bernie Sanders won four years ago. This time, Biden assembled a coalition of voters that was broad enough not only to handily defeat Sanders, but also make a statement about his potential in the state if he were to challenge President Donald Trump in November.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — President Donald Trump has endorsed former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville in the U.S. Senate race in Alabama. Tuberville is running against Trump's former attorney general, Jeff Sessions, in the March 31 Republican runoff. Trump announced his support for Tuberville in a tweet, saying that Tuberville has his complete and total endorsement. He did not mention Sessions. The winner of the GOP runoff faces Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, the current incumbent, in November. Sessions held the Alabama seat safely for 20 years before stepping down to become Trump's first attorney general.

UNDATED (AP) — The Associated Press has learned Washington state's governor will ban gatherings and events of more than 250 people in virtually the entire Seattle metro area to try to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Gov. Jay Inslee has scheduled a news conference in Seattle for late Wednesday morning. The person who spoke about the decision spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The person said the ban would apply to King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, which are home to almost 4 million people. The person said the order would not prohibit the operation of workplaces and is not expected to include school closures.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan security forces have fired tear gas to repel an anti-government march led by opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who is trying to reignite street protests to add to growing international pressure on embattled socialist President Nicolás Maduro. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in the capital Tuesday with the goal of taking back the National Assembly. It is the only opposition-dominated body in the country, but its chambers were seized by pro-government lawmakers two months ago. The protesters were blocked on their march by riot police and volleys of tear gas broke up the crowd. Other protests took place nationwide, while Maduro supporters held their own rally downtown.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An investigation commissioned by the Los Angeles Opera into sexual harassment allegations against ‪Plácido Domingo has found that the legendary tenor engaged in "inappropriate conduct" with multiple women over the three decades he held senior positions at the company. According to a summary released by the LA Opera, investigators say 10 women accused the star of engaging in inappropriate conduct between 1986 and 2019. Investigators deemed the allegations credible. The LA Opera launched its investigation after the publication of Associated Press stories last year in which multiple women accused Domingo of sexual harassment and abuse of power.
