UNDATED (AP) — Two teams near the top of the Pac-12 standings meet this week when No. 12 Oregon hosts Southern California. The Trojans are tied with Stanford atop the conference at 4-1. Oregon was up to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 before dropping following a surprising loss to Washington State. No. 22 Arizona plays at rival Arizona State in the Pac-12's other marquee game.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shareef O'Neal plans to transfer from UCLA, where he sat out his first year after heart surgery and played just 13 games this season. O'Neal announced his decision on social media Wednesday night, but didn't mention his future plans. He averaged 2.2 points and 2.9 rebounds while playing 10.2 minutes per game. First-year UCLA coach Mick Cronin said he fully supports O'Neal's decision and wishes him the best. O'Neal was recruited out of Crossroads High in Los Angeles by former Bruins coach Steve Alford. The Bruins are 9-9 overall and 2-3 in Pac-12 play.
UNDATED (AP) — Iowa athletic director Gary Barta has been chosen as the new chairman of the College Football Playoff selection committee. Barta was appointed to the selection committee in January 2019 and will replace Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens as chairman. Three new members of the selection committee were also appointed for three-year terms. They are former Penn State offensive lineman John Urschel, Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman and Colorado AD Rick George. Besides Mullens, also cycling off the committee are former Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer and Robert Morris University President Chris Howard, a former football player at Air Force.
