1 man injured in Salt Lake City officer-involved shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police responded to an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday afternoon near 1500 W. North Temple.

The incident occurred about 3:40 p.m. when a Salt Lake City police officer fired at least one round while approaching a stolen vehicle in the area, Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Keith Horrocks said.

The 20-year-old male driver of the car was injured in the shooting and transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Horrocks said.

Unified Police Department was on scene about 4:40 p.m. to conduct the independent investigation into the officer-involved critical incident.
