No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Clemson and No. 4 Oklahoma all feature offenses fueled by catch-everything wideouts who specialize in spectacular grabs and have incredible finishing speed. With the all the talent at wide receiver its the first time all four CFP participants are averaging better than 43 points a game.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Jair Bolden scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half and A.J. Lawson had 10 of his 14 in the second to help South Carolina beat No. 9 Virginia 70-59. The Gamecocks (8-4) led 23-11, saw Virginia pull even at 45 with just over 11 minutes to play and promptly scored 12 of the next 17 points. The Cavaliers never got closer than five the rest of the way. Mamadi Diakite scored a career-high 21 points to lead Virginia (9-2). The Cavaliers had a season-high 19 turnovers, leading to 23 Gamecocks points. South Carolina shot 55.1%, connecting on 27 of 49 attempts. Justin Minaya added 12 points for South Carolina, 10 after halftime.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Paul Atkinson had 20 points beat an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent for a second straight season with a 54-45 win over Clemson on Sunday. The Bulldogs lost an eight-point second-half lead before rallying back for their seven straight win. Jordan Bruner added 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as stung the ACC for a second consecutive season after beating Miami 77-73 last December. Clemson was held to 32 percent shooting and made just four of its 20 attempts from three-point range. Hunter Tyson had 11 points to lead the Tigers, who scored their fewest points this season.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Markell Johnson had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to help North Carolina State beat The Citadel 83-63. Johnson grabbed a rebound with 1:57 remaining to complete his triple-double for the Wolfpack (9-3), who never trailed. Devon Daniels scored 18 points and DJ Funderburk scored 14 for N.C. State. C.J. Bryce and Jericole Hellems added 13 points apiece.
HONOLULU (AP) — Moses Wright and Jordan Usher scored 18 points each and Georgia Tech rallied to a 74-60 win over Boise State on the opening day of the Diamond Head Classic. The Yellow Jackets trailed by as many as eight points early in the second half, but used a 24-4 run to to take a 58-43 lead with eight minutes to play. Jose Alvarado had 14 and Michael Devoe 13 for Georgia Tech.
WINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) — ynice Martin scored 24 points, Kysre Gondrezick added 23 and No. 22 West Virginia held on to defeat Syracuse 71-69 after blowing a 20-point first-half lead. Madisen Smith added 10 points for the Mountaineers, who went 2-0 in the Florida Sunshine Classic. They beat No. 19 Michigan State on Saturday. Kiara Lewis poured in career-high 32 points with six assists for the Orange, who found themselves down 20 less than four minutes into the second quarter. That's when Lewis took over and made it a game.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Nausia Woolfolk scored 21 points and No. 8 Florida State beat 24th-ranked Michigan 79-69 in the Hall of Fame Women's Basketball Showcase. Kiah Gillespie had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. She got the final one on a basket just before the buzzer. Leading 54-52, Florida State went on an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter to build a double-digit advantage. Michigan closed to within 64-61 but couldn't get closer. Amy Dilk scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Wolverines.
