ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Creators of the popular video “Baby Shark,” whose “doo doo doo” song was played at the World Series in October, are developing a version in Navajo. Pinkfong, a brand of the South Korea company SmartStudy, announced last week it is working with the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, Arizona, to create a new version of the widely popular tune about a family of sharks.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake police officer can’t explain his habit of arriving at the right time, but there are now two crash victims who benefited from him being in the right place when they needed him. In 2011, Officer Kevin Peck crawled under a crashed bus in Utah to hold a woman’s hand until she was rescued. The Deseret News reported that last month Peck helped save another crash victim while he was in Europe. Peck used a belt as a tourniquet on a woman’s leg after a crash to stop serious bleeding.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a substitute teacher in Utah has been fired after berating a fifth-grade student who said he was thankful for being adopted by his two dads, one of whom is a former dancer on “Dancing with the Stars.” The Salt Lake Tribune reports staffing company Kelly Services contracts with the Alpine School District south of Salt Lake City and said in a statement Monday the unidentified woman no longer works for them.
MOAB, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a man and woman who died last week while hiking in a popular area of Arches National Park in Utah were a couple from California. Grand County Sheriff Lt. Kim Neal said Monday that the two who died Nov. 29 while hiking to Delicate Arch were 65-year-old Toshiaki Amimoto and 60-year-old Etoko Amimoto of Torrance, California. He says their son, 30-year-old Ryo Amimoto, suffered serious injuries but survived.
