UNIPUPPY — It’s confirmed. Unicorns are real. And they are a lot smaller, furrier and more dog-like than we thought.
A puppy with a second tail on his forehead was rescued in Missouri by a nonprofit dog rescue, Mac’s Mission.
The sweet little guy is aptly named “Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn,” according to the dog rescue’s Facebook page.
The nonprofit mainly works with dogs who have “special needs,” i.e., those with birth defects or who are injured or abused, its website states.
Narwhal the puppy was found with a foot injury and alongside another older dog, according to Mac's Mission’s Facebook page.
A big question going around social media was asking if Narwhal could wag his second tail. After taking the pup to the vet and getting X-rays, the doctor determined the extra tail wasn’t connected to anything and therefore cannot wag.
While it is disappointing little Narwhal can’t wag his face tail, the good news is it isn’t doing any harm and the veterinarian didn’t see a reason to remove it. Even better news is he also said Narwhal is totally healthy!
Narwhal doesn’t seem to let his extra tail get in his way. He is a very active and playful little pup.
In some videos shared on Facebook, the unicorn-dog hybrid plays just like any other puppy.
The narwhal/unicorn/puppy mix has created quite a stir on social media after the popular Twitter page We Rate Dogs shared photos of him. That post was retweeted more than 60,000 times and had over 290,000 likes.
Unfortunately for those hoping to take the sweet little puppy home, Narwhal isn’t available for adoption just yet. According to Mac’s Mission, they are not accepting applications until they “are very certain his unicorn horn is not going to have a growth spurt and become an issue,” according to a Facebook post. However, staff said Narwhal won't be getting his "horn" removed.
While his swimming abilities haven’t been put to the test, I bet this puppy must be an extra good swimmer thanks to his narwhal genes.
And as we already know, he is extra magical thanks to his unicorn genes.
