SANDY — The search continued Friday for a person wanted in connection with a stabbing near Jordan High School.
About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed during an altercation with another male at Dewey Bluth Park, 170 E. Sego Lily Drive, located across the street from the high school. A motive for the stabbing was not immediately known.
According to an email sent by the school Thursday afternoon to Jordan High parents and students, the incident was an “altercation between a Jordan High student and former student who is no longer enrolled in our school.”
The student who was stabbed walked back to the school with the assistance of friends to seek help. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a stab wound to his abdomen, said Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen. As of late Thursday night, the boy was still in the hospital, he said, but his injuries were not life threatening.
Details about the former student were not released Friday.
Jordan administrators said it was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the school.
