Carlos Baker goes down
SUU quarterback Chris Helbig completed 20 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns in the Thunderbirds’ 59-34 win Saturday over Idaho State.
But no pass may be better than the one he completed to wide receiver Carlos Baker.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound wideout didn’t go up for a catch in the win over the Bengals, but down is good enough, sliding on the turf before hauling in this pass to set up a score.
SC Top 10? More like, SC Top 1 for all time.
Off the chest
The Astros took a 3-2 lead Sunday over the Nationals in Game 5 of the World Series with a 7-1 win.
And one Nats fan couldn’t even be bothered enough to drop his beer in salutation for the effort.
No, really; check out this fan who takes Yordan Alvarez’s two-run home-run ball off the chest so that he doesn’t have to spill a drop of his (likely overpriced) ballpark beer.
Impressive.
His name is Jeff Adams, and he said the bean ball didn’t hurt at all, because the Astros don’t hit hard.
Simi Fehoko goes up
Former Brighton High standout Simi Fehoko had himself a day in Stanford’s 41-31 win over Arizona.
The 6-foot-4 sophomore caught three passes for 97 yards — two of them for touchdowns — in the Cardinal’s big win over the Wildcats. Here's the first one:
But if you were impressed by that, you’ll love his second.
Crowder's clutch winner
The Utah Jazz started to find their shooting with a group of newcomers in Saturday night’s win over Sacramento.
One former Jazz showed off his shooting, though, in another win Sunday.
Jae Crowder — now with the Memphis Grizzlies — scored a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift the Grizzlies to a 134-133 win over the Nets.
