AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in eastern Idaho say a man piloting a small plane died after crashing in a field just outside the small town of American Falls. The Power County Sheriff's Office tells KIFI-TV that a dog in the single-engine aircraft also died in the crash on Friday afternoon.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The University of Idaho has reached a settlement in a lawsuit brought by a woman who said school officials told her to transfer to another campus if she didn't want to continue attending classes with a student who sexually assaulted her. U.S. District Judge David Nye dismissed the case Thursday after attorneys on both sides told the court they'd reached a settlement to end the lawsuit.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A judge has dismissed a felony rape charge against an Idaho police officer at the request of the prosecutors needing more time to present evidence to the court. Idaho Press reported Thursday that 43-year-old Boise police officer Eric Simunich is still under investigation. The case had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday, but prosecutors say they were not ready. Prosecutors can refile the charge. The officer's defense attorney said he was pleased with the dismissal.
CHALLIS, Idaho (AP) — Officials say they plan to use helicopters to capture 365 wild horses in central Idaho in early November to reduce the number of horses to about 185. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management in a news release Friday says the roundup in the Challis Herd Management Area near the town of Challis will begin on or about Nov. 5 and take up to nine days.
