RING TOSS CHAMPIONSHIPS — I understand that most sports record holders are human. But there’s gotta be an "Air Bud"-style exception somewhere, right?

If the rules never explicitly forbid animals, who's to say that birds, bees and felicitous felines can’t be our fitness champions?

I, for one, believe that Gatorade, Nike and Under Armour commercials would be much better if they featured cute pets. Of course, that says nothing about the record turnout for athlete meet-and-greets.

Besides, I need to be able to watch the "Puppy Bowl" more than once a year, for journalistic purposes.

Up first in our roster of elite animal athletes is King Julius the cat. His sport of choice? Ring toss.

The video shows a stare of stone-cold determination is enough to rival any Olympian. And look at that purrfect paw movement. This is what peak performance looks like.

King Julius doesn’t even glance at the toss; he knows what he’s accomplished, and he — in true chaotic, disenfranchised feline fashion — doesn’t care.

The crowd goes wild, and it’s official: King Julian is ring toss royalty.
