SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah health officials say the state's tally of lung damage cases linked to vaping has increased to 47. The state Department of Health announced the new total Monday, an increase from the 42 cases reported a week earlier. The agency says 22 more potential cases are being investigated. The department says 90% of the people who got sick reported vaping THC, the high-producing ingredient in marijuana.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has signed five bills this week approving changes to the state's medical marijuana program, transition to higher-strength beer and the primary election, among other changes. The Republican governor's spokeswoman Anna Lehnardt said Herbert signed the bills Monday. Lawmakers voted on the new measures last week during a special legislative session in Salt Lake City.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Hospital officials say three Chinese tourists remain in critical condition from injuries suffered in a deadly tour bus crash near a national park in southern Utah. Intermountain Healthcare officials said Monday that one other person is in serious condition and eight others are in fair condition. Four people died and all 30 passengers were injured the tour bus rolled over into a guardrail Friday near Bryce Canyon National Park.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah business owner has apologized after spraying a man smoking a cigarette in the face with a fire extinguisher in downtown Salt Lake City. KSL-TV reports Jon Bird was smoking a cigarette near the Gallivan Center Friday evening when a local business owner confronted him several times about smoking near his eatery before spraying him. Bird said he was volunteering at an event and security personnel gave him permission to smoke at the spot. Jamison said he overreacted and apologized to Bird.
