BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU coach Ed Orgeron has asked his veterans players to relive one of the Tigers' lowest football moments in recent years as they prepare to host Northwestern State. The No. 4 Tigers are prohibitive favorites against the struggling Demons of the second-tier FCS. But Oregon made sure to remind his players about Troy's surprising victory in Death Valley in 2017. Northwestern State coach Brad Laird says his team is determined to play hard for four quarters and try to make the Tigers do the same.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — After losing to top-ranked Clemson last week, No. 16 Texas A&M has just one game to correct its mistakes and get ready for the start of Southeastern Conference play with a visit from No. 8 Auburn. The Aggies host Lamar, an FCS team in the Southland Conference, on Saturday night. Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond is looking to bounce back after a shaky performance in the 24-10 loss to Clemson where he completed just 57.1% of his passes, threw an interception and lost a fumble.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas hosts Colorado State on Saturday a year after the Rams stunned the Razorbacks with a 17-point comeback in the fourth quarter to win. Arkansas has named a new starting quarterback for this game in Texas A&M transfer Nick Starkel. Both teams are 1-1. The Rams are coming off a win over Western Illinois in which they had seven sacks. Arkansas opened SEC play with a loss at Mississippi.
