LOGAN — Police are trying to identify two men who allegedly skimmed a Utah County resident’s credit card information and used it to buy nearly $10,000 in merchandise from a home improvement store.
The men were captured on surveillance photos at a Logan Lowe's Home Improvement store, 313 E. 1400 North, on Aug. 5.
Logan police posted the photos on Facebook, hoping someone will recognize them. While police acknowledged the photos aren’t of the best quality, they ask people to note the men’s clothes to help identify them.
Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said the two men likely used a credit card skimmer to steal the card information from the victim, possibly at a gas pump, for example.
The two men used the credit card to make small merchandise purchases and several gift cards, Hooley said — something that might not necessarily create a flag from the credit card company.
Hooley advised people to stay vigilant with checking their credit card statements and keeping a close eye on all purchases.
Anyone with information on the two men is encouraged to call Logan police at 435-716-9475 and ask to speak with Det. Soelberg.
