OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A Utah couple are accused of depriving their teenage daughter of food and chaining her.
KSL-TV reports 33-year-old Trev Jordan Tutt and 35-year-old Kimberly Marie Tutt, of Ogden, were charged Friday with child abuse. Kimberly Tutt also faces an aggravated assault charge.
It wasn't immediately clear whether they had lawyers.
Court documents say their daughter told police her mother tortured her for years. The 15-year-old said her wrist was chained to a bed at night since seventh grade.
At a motel, she said, she recently was forced to remain under a bed for 12 hours.
She also says food was kept from her. Authorities wrote in documents that her small size suggested stunted growth.
The parents told authorities they withheld food as discipline but did not starver her.
