WOODLAND HILLS, Utah County — A 26-year-old Provo man died Tuesday after his car collided head-on with a tar tanker, authorities said.

The car was southbound on Woodland Hills Drive shortly after 5 p.m. when it appears to have drifted into northbound traffic near 11000 South and crashed into a small commercial tanker, Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said via Twitter.

The driver of the car, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, died on scene. The tanker’s driver wasn’t injured in the crash, Cannon said.

The man's name was not released, pending family notification.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, Cannon said.
