COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Longtime former South Carolina athletic director Mike McGee has died at 80 years old. The school announced McGee's death, saying he died at his home in Colorado. The university did not list a cause of death. McGee was a former All-American offensive lineman won the Outland Trophy playing for Duke in 1959. As head of South Carolina's athletic department from 1993 to 2005, McGee hired both Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier as football coaches.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville says it will part ways with men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma after 29 years effective Aug. 26 following an independent investigation that concluded the program did not meet "roles and expectations in providing student-athletes an outstanding experience." A release was not specific about the investigation but athletic director Vince Tyra added that "a change in leadership is needed." Ecarma was 475-317-1 as Cardinals head coach.
