PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says the Philadelphia 76ers and All-Star guard Ben Simmons have agreed to a $170 million, five-year contract. Simmons will make about $8.1 million this season, the last of his four-year rookie deal. Assuming the sides agree on what will be a full max, Simmons' salary for the following season would jump to about $29.3 million and eventually rise to nearly $39 million in 2024-25.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have suspended safety Kam Moore amid charges he punched a woman, stepped on her neck and rendered her unconscious. The alleged incident took place last Thursday. Moore appeared in state Superior Court in Union County to face charges of third-degree aggravated assault. The 22-year-old played in two games as a rookie last year for New York.

UNDATED (AP) _ Former boxing champion Pernell Whitaker has died after he was hit by a car in Virginia. He was 55. Police in Virginia Beach say the former fighter was a pedestrian when struck by the car. Whitaker was an Olympic gold medalist and welterweight champion. He was regarded as one of the greatest defensive fighters ever.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) _ The San Francisco 49ers have signed kicker Robbie Gould to a four-year contract. The 49ers had placed the franchise tag on Gould in February for a price tag of about $5 million before signing him to a long-term deal.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers says he is at peace regarding Kevin Durant's departure for the Brooklyn Nets. He has an appreciation for all the superstar accomplished with the franchise, even if Myers would have loved to keep Durant around a little longer. And Myers doesn't think he would do anything differently in an attempt to keep Durant, who was NBA Finals MVP for the Warriors in 2017 and '18.
