ELMO, Emery County — A routine probation check of a woman Tuesday resulted in four arrests and the discovery of a large-scale drug operation, according to officials.

Utah Department of Corrections Adult Probation and Parole agents were visiting Amber Huffman as part of a standard probation check when they noticed drug paraphernalia in the residence and heard three others in a back room, according to a Facebook post made by Emery County Sheriff’s Office.

The agents called the sheriff’s office for backup and the Emery County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant for the house, the post stated.

When authorities searched the house, they found “substantial amounts of methamphetamine and heroin along with small amounts of cocaine and marijuana,” the statement reads.

Officials said they also seized four firearms, a large amount of cash, packaging materials, scales and paraphernalia.

According to officials, the street value of the seized drugs is $64,000 and Emery County Sheriff Greg Funk said in a statement this was a big bust for the area.

Officers arrested 41-year-old Frank Burgess, with bail set at $82,950; 50-year-old Travis Heaton, with $91,680 bail; 29-year-old Amber Huffman, with $90,360 bail; and 38-year-old Brandy Burgess, with bail set at $81,000.

The group was arrested for investigation of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, possession with intent to distribute and paraphernalia, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing, officials said.

Funk encouraged citizens to contact his office if they “notice suspicious activities in their neighborhoods,” and noted people can leave anonymous tips as well.

Officials ask citizens to report suspicious activity by contacting the Emery County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center at 435-381-2404.
