SANDY — Police are investigating after a teenager was stabbed at a Walmart in Sandy Thursday afternoon.

Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said two juveniles got into a fight at the Walmart, 9151 S. Quarry Bend Drive, and one stabbed the other in the back. The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was transported to a hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive, Nielsen said.

The boy who allegedly stabbed the teen left the scene before police arrived, Nielsen said. He was described as being in his mid-teens and wearing a white number three Utah Jazz jersey, Nielsen added.

The police sergeant said he didn’t know what relationship existed between the two boys, if any.
