MIDVALE, Utah (AP) — A school in a Salt Lake City suburb was evacuated Thursday because of a chemical leak.
The Unified Fire Authority said approximately 100 special needs students were evacuated from Jordan Valley School in Midvale after a janitor reported a chemical spill near a therapy swimming pool.
The agency said in a statement that hazardous-materials personnel would identify the chemical and clean it up.
School spokeswoman Kirsten Stewart said everybody at the school was safe and that the evacuation was precautionary.
Thursday was the last day of school and parents have been asked to pick up their children.
