HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) — A squadron of F-35A jet fighters from Hill Air Force Base in Utah has deployed to Aviano Air Base in Italy. A statement released by Hill officials said the squadron arrived Friday and will participate in exercises and conduct training with other Europe-based aircraft during a deployment expected to last several weeks.

KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) — Officials say American climber Don Cash, who fulfilled his dream of climbing the highest mountains on each of the seven continents, died of probable altitude sickness on the way down from Mount Everest. An official says he became ill at the summit and was treated by his two Sherpa guides who gave him CPR massages. Two more Indian climbers, an Austrian and an Irishman also died this week on Everest during a busy climbing season.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say they have apprehended a California man suspected of shooting and killing a motorist in northern Utah. Idaho State Police announced on Twitter that 45-year-old Jonathan Llana of Los Angeles had been captured at about 3:15 p.m. Friday. Police had been searching for Llana since late Wednesday, when they say he shot and killed Dennis Gwyther of Salt Lake City and injured Gwyther's passenger on Interstate 84.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah prosecutor says that five Salt Lake City police officers' use of deadly force that resulted in the death of a man in a November 2018 shooting was justified and no charges will be filed against the officers. District Attorney Sim Gil announced his findings Friday regarding the death of Cody Belgard, who was shot after he rammed into a police car and two other vehicles while trying to evade arrest.
