SALT LAKE CITY — The FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention Spring 2019 event has come and gone, leaving lasting memories and tired feet.
The spring event may be half the size of the fall event, but cosplayers were still in full force and having a ball. Some were easily recognizable characters while others were only recognized by true fans of the show or movie.
One thing is for sure: more and more fans wanted to join in on the fun.
Even some celebrities talked about cosplay. Garrett Wang from "Star Trek: Voyager" fame said in his days of long hair he would have cosplayed as The Crow.
Now, he is more likely to cosplay George Takei's Sulu from "Star Trek." He even gave a sample of his voice impersonation of Takei.
Adelaide Kane, known for her work in "Once Upon A Time" and "Reign," said she has cosplayed as the DC Comics character Wonder Girl in the past but really wants to cosplay as Lady Deadpool next.
Other convention attendees were excited to learn the basics at the Cosplay 101 panel. Several experienced cosplayers were on hand to share their knowledge and answer questions, including local Skylar Ostler, who runs the popular YouTube channel Cosplay Apprentice.
