SALT LAKE CITY— USA National Team member Maile O’Keefe signed a National Letter of Intent with Utah gymnastics, the team announced Monday.

The Las Vegas native is the third member off the 2016-2017 USA National Team to sign with Utah, joining current junior MyKayla Skinner and incoming freshman Abby Paulson.

“We are elated that Maile has signed a National Letter of Intent with us,” Utah co-head coach Tom Farden said in a statement. “She is a world class gymnast with amazing credentials.”

O’Keefe is the first P&G national all-around champion to ever sign with Utah. She won five individual titles at the P&G Championships in the junior division, winning the all-around in 2016 and 2017, beam and floor in 2016 and bars in 2017. In the 2017 Championships, she won silver on vault, beam and floor.

In addition to her striking national resume, which also includes top finishes at the U.S. Classic and American Classic, O’Keefe has impressed worldwide. She won the all-around and beam at the 2017 International Junior Japan meet where she also placed second on vault, bars and floor.

She also won all-around and floor for the gold-medal USA team at the 2017 Gymnix International in Montreal. O’Keefe helped team USA win gold at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy, winning silver in the all-around and floor and bronze on bars and beam.

“Her gymnastics has the perfect blend of power, elegance and consistency that makes for exceptional routines on every event,” Farden said.

O’Keefe is the fourth gymnast in Utah’s current recruiting class. She’ll join Paulson and Junior Olympic national champions Jillian Hoffman and Jaedyn Rucker who signed in November.

“Our fans are going to love this extremely talented freshman class that will be competing for us next year.”
