CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Wes Marshall completed 21 of 25 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Southern Utah swept aside Montana Tech, 34-0.
Joey Hew Len was a favorite target, grabbing seven passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. The Thunderbirds scored on four of their five possessions in the first half and rolled up 469 yards in total offense.
The Southern Utah defense, led by ends Levi Erickson and Jimmy Judd, held the Orediggers to 35 yards rushing and just 114 for the game.
Marshall, a part-time starter known more for his running ability, turned in the first 300-yard passing performance of his career.
He threw two touchdown passes in the first half and added an 18-yard scoring pass to Landon Beus midway through the third quarter before sitting out the final period.
The Thunderbirds had a goal-line stand early in the second quarter, stopping Montana Tech's Corey Warner three times from inside the 2-yard line.
