BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Ty Outlaw hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 88 seconds left and No. 20 Virginia Tech beat No. 3 Duke 77-72 while Blue Devils star freshman Zion Williamson sat out his second straight game with a sprained right knee. Kelly Blackshear Jr. had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Ahmed Hill scored 17 points for Virginia Tech, which beat Duke at Cassell Coliseum for the third straight game. The Blue Devils had been the only team in the country yet to lose on the road this season.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Coby White scored a career-high 34 points and fifth-ranked North Carolina pulled away late to beat Syracuse 93-85. Cameron Johnson added 16 points for the Tar Heels, who have won 11 of 12 games. UNC shot 40 percent but made 34 of 37 free throws. Tyus Battle scored 23 of his 29 points after halftime to lead the Orange.

NEW YORK (AP) — With a few weeks left in the regular season, the college women's basketball player of the year race is wide open. Take your pick. There's a little bit of something for everyone with talented post players, guards and wings. Usually at this point in the season there's a clear-cut choice for player of the year. Sometimes it seems as if the top player in the country is almost a forgone conclusion _ even before the season starts. That definitely isn't the case this season.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says the investigation into the fatal crash last week involving Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim is nearly complete and speed was not a factor. Fitzpatrick tells The Associated Press the accident reconstruction has determined Boeheim was traveling within the speed limit or close to it when the accident occurred.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Brandon Childress hit a 3-pointer with 25.2 seconds left, and Wake Forest rallied to beat Miami 76-75. Childress finished with 21 points while Chaundee Brown added 21 points and a career-best 14 rebounds for the Demon Deacons. They trailed by 14 with 8½ minutes remaining and were down 10 with less than 2 minutes to play before finishing on a 16-5 run keyed by eight points from Childress.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Former Clemson safety Jadar Johnson has pleaded guilty for his role in an armed robbery last year. Johnson, late Clemson teammate C.J. Fuller and former Duke player Quaven Ferguson were all charged with armed robbery and weapons possession. According to court records, Johnson received a six-year sentence suspended to three years' probation.

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Tech is moving five home games including dates against Notre Dame in 2020 and 2024 to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The games moved to the home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and MLS' Atlanta United also include the 2022 season opener against Clemson. The changes do not affect Georgia Tech's 2019 schedule.
