Nevada's Caroline named Mountain West player of the week

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada forward Jordan Caroline has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, averaging 26.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in the No. 7 Wolf Pack's victories over Colorado State and New Mexico.

The senior from Champaign, Illinois scored 30 of his game-high 40 points in the first half in the 98-82 win Wednesday at Colorado State. He made 9-of-11 shots from the field and all six free throws in the opening half and finished with 12 rebounds for the 41st double-double of his career at Nevada (23-1), a new league record.

Caroline notched his 15th double-double of the season in the 91-62 win Saturday over New Mexico, with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

For the week, he shot 44.1 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from 3-point range and 77.3 percent from the free-throw line.
