PLEASANT GROVE — Police took a man into custody on Thursday evening who they say held a woman at gunpoint in her home Wednesday night.

Officers responded to a report of a person in distress at their home near 1050 East and 100 North, Pleasant Grove Capt. Brett Smith said. The woman was able to get away from the man and call police.

"She indicated she was being held at gunpoint in her home," Smith said. "Officers responded to the area, surrounded the residence and were able to get the two females out of the home safely, but unfortunately, the suspect escaped our perimeter."

Police identified the man they were looking for as 38-year-old Nicholas William Haun, who they said was the victim's father. Officers also recovered a handgun inside the home believed to have been used in the incident, Smith said.

"It was not a burglary or home invasion or anything of that type," Smith added. "He was an invited guest at the home."

Haun was safely taken into custody by the Utah County SWAT Team Thursday evening, according to Pleasant Grove police. Smith added that Haun is also wanted for aggravated assault in Arizona.
