MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — U.S. Open champion Naomi Osaka has reached back-to-back major finals with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Karolina Pliskova in the Australian Open semifinals. The 21-year-old Osaka will play another Czech, two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova (kuh-VIHT'-oh-vuh), for the Australian title on Saturday. Kvitova advanced by beating Danielle Collins 7-6 (2), 6-0 to return to a Grand Slam final for the first time since winning the Wimbledon title in 2014.
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Astra Sharma and John-Patrick Smith have ensured Australians will be playing for all three doubles titles at the season's first major after beating second-seeded Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the mixed.
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have hired Don Long as hitting coach and Doug Brocail as pitching coach under first-year manager Brandon Hyde. Long spent the past five seasons as the hitting coach of the Cincinnati Reds. Brocail was the Texas Rangers' pitching coach for the past three years. He was the Astros' pitching coach from June 2011 through 2013.
UNDATED (AP) — Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer had so much fun in their first season calling NFL games on Amazon Prime that they are coming back for an encore. Amazon says the veteran announcing duo will return next season to call the Thursday night package on Amazon's prime video service.
