OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi's Kermit Davis is getting another crack at a big-time men's basketball coaching job nearly 30 years after the lowest point in his career. Two months into the season, Davis has the Rebels in the Top 25 for the first time since 2013. It's been a long road. In 1991 he resigned at Texas A&M amid an NCAA investigation which resulted in Davis receiving a two-year show cause penalty. Now, his No. 18 Rebels will try to earn their 11th win in 12 games when they face Arkansas on Saturday.

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Kentucky's Ashton Hagans and Auburn's Jared Harper are set to face off in a matchup of talented point guards. The two play different but sizable roles for their teams heading into the game between the No. 12 Wildcats and 14th-ranked Tigers.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former Georgia defensive back Deangelo Gibbs is transferring to Tennessee. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Gibbs played seven games for Georgia as a sophomore this past season and made seven tackles. He appeared in six games as a freshman in 2017 and made three tackles.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Mike White has a basketball team of "clock-watchers." He says his players are seemingly content to coast through the final minutes of games and hope to win. It's the only way he can explain how the Gators have struggled down the stretch in Southeastern Conference play. Florida has done little right in the closing minutes of league play. White says "when it's winning time, you can't freeze up offensively and defensively." White hopes for better results Saturday at Georgia.

UNDATED (AP) — No. 3 Tennessee is the early front-runner after beating its first four conference opponents by a combined 100 points. Some of the most promising candidates to challenge the Volunteers are No. 12 Kentucky and No. 14 Auburn which meet this weekend. Other schools that have impressed include South Carolina and LSU, which are both undefeated in conference and play each other Saturday.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi State forward Chloe Bibby will miss the rest of the women's basketball season with a left knee injury. The school announced the extent of the injury on Friday. The 6-foot-1 Bibby fell awkwardly after pivoting during the opening minute of Thursday night's game against South Carolina. She was averaging 12.6 points and shooting 45 percent on 3-pointers entering the game against South Carolina.
